Meet Christine Nola

I opened my studio to provide people a relaxing, inviting space to make art. My hope is that people will explore their creativity, develop their skills, and make more art!

I believe everyone can learn to make art. I teach my students how to choose and mix colors, different painting techniques, and how to create a painting from start to finish. I don’t just give my students a pre-drawn image to paint. I teach with patience and joy because those are the skills I’ve been gifted.

Learn More About Christine

How long have you been an artist?

I realized I could draw when I was about 15 (because I had a crush on a boy who was an artist). Discovering painting, charcoal, pen & ink, pastels and watercolors led me to focus on graphic design & illustration on college. I didn’t make a lot of art while I was raising my kids, but now that I'm an empty nester, I have so much more time to create.

What is your training?

I have a Bachelors Degree in Multimedia & Visual Communication and an Associate in Arts Degree in Marketing & Design. For most of my career, I've used my creative talents at work designing web sites, advertisements, brochures, and most recently designing homes in architectural software for a home builder. But fine art — painting, sketching, crafting — is what I'm most passionate about.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that anyone can be an artist! Like Bob Ross, I believe there are only happy accidents and with art, just about anything can be fixed. I like to teach people to mix colors, choose the tools and paints that will help them achieve what want to create, and take my students step-by-step through the process of creating their very own art work. I'm an optimist by nature and believe just about anything can be figured out.
